  • 1/4 cupKosher salt
  • 1/4 cupbrown sugar
  • 1 tablespoonblack peppercorns
  • 1 quartwater
  • ice cubes

    Combine all ingredients except the ice in a 4-quart saucepan. Bring to a boil; reduce to a simmer and stir to dissolve the salt and sugar.
