
Ginger Potion
Ginger Potion combines the kick of ginger with a background of lime, cardamom, and nutmeg.

Ingredients
- 12 ounceswhole gingerroot -- peeled (rinsed, and cut into 1-inch chunks)
- 4 limes -- peels only
- 2 tablespoonscardamom pods -- slightly smashed
- 3 whole nutmeg kernels -- halved
- 2 quartsfiltered water
Instructions

Pulse gingerroot in a food processor fitted with a metal blade until roughly chopped.

Put the ginger, lime peels, cardamom pods, nutmeg kernels, and water in a 4-quart saucepan. Bring the mixture up to a simmer.

Simmer for 30 minutes, uncovered. Turn off the heat, cover, and steep for 1 hour.

Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth or a coffee filter into a clean glass jar. Cover and chill thoroughly before using.

Fill a glass with ice cubes. Pour in the potion to fill the glass 2/3 full. Fill the remaining 1/3 of the glass with sparkling water and serve.
