  • 1 generous pinch saffron threads
  • 1/4 cuphot tap water
  • 2 tablespoonsextra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 clovesgarlic -- minced
  • 4 green cardamom pods -- slightly smashed
  • 1 3- inchstick cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoonKosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cupswater
  • 1/2 cupgolden raisins
  • 20 whole almonds
