Spiced Almonds

These spiced nuts have been a family favorite for years and were a staple for our gift baskets. I often make several batches, freeze them, and bag them up for gifts as needed.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspooncumin
  • 1 teaspoonchili powder
  • 1 teaspooncurry powder
  • 1 teaspoongarlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspooncayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoonground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoonground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoonground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cupextra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 cupswhole shelled almonds
  • 3 teaspoonsKosher salt

Instructions

    Heat oven to 325º F.

    Mix cumin, chili powder, curry powder, garlic salt, cayenne, ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a small bowl.

    In a small skillet, heat the oil over low heat and add spices. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

    Spread nuts in a single layer on a baking sheet and toss with spicy oil. Bake for 15 minutes, tossing every 5 minutes.

    Remove the nuts from the oven. Toss with salt and stir to coat while nuts cool completely.
